ATTENTION ALL FACULTY AND STAFF

The Hill Hall (504A), Smith Hall (504B) and 20 parking spots at Bradley (508) will be CLOSED on Wednesday, 8, 2017 and will REOPEN on Thursday, February 9, 2017 for the Rutgers Board of Governors meeting. All Rutgers Faculty and Staff utilizing the Hill Hall and Smith Hall parking lots are advised to use alternative parking lots: MEC (502),Essex (506) and *Deck 3 garage located at 180 Washington St. corner Raymond Blvd (access card required).

Employees should therefore use alternative routes to park at any of the above-mentioned locations. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Commuters with active Prepaid RUN Pass permit or Zone L permit can park at our latest student parking located at 272 New Street (Between Lock St. and Wilsey St.) immediately. Commuters with a Pay-As-You-Go permits must come to the Parking Office and upgrade your permit for a one-time fee of $70 to cover the rest of the year at the “New Street Lot”. There is no daily fee at the lot.

The RUN RUN, Campus Connect and Penn Station Local shuttle bus has stops near this lot http://rudots.rutgers.edu/nwktransport.shtml. In addition, this lot is also easily walked through the NJIT campus (7 minute walk from the Lot to PRCC).

STARTING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2014, RUTGERS NEWARK WILL HAVE A NEW UNIVERSITY TRANSIT SYSTEM.

Parking Permit for Faculty & Staff

A New Begining for 2014:

  • Faculty and Staff can now keep their parking account updated (register & add additional vehicles, at no cost; update address, email, etc...) throughout the year by clicking here.
  • A Valid Permit now consist of a Hangtag ( A Sticker is No Longer A Requirement).
  • Be sure to register all vehicles against your permit - To avoid citations, Vehicle information will be matched to hangtag found in vehicle while parked on campus.
  • Please be advised that priority #1 address on your account designates your mailing location.

Faculty/Staff Parking Permit Registration 

Parking permits for Type 1 Full time/Regular employees and Casual/Temporary employees such as Type 3 and  Type 4 are valid based on calendar year January-December. Renewal are scheduled to begin on the 1st week of December and an email announcement will be sent to all Faculty/Staff to remind enrollment period for the new calendar year.

Permits are delivered or mailed depending on registered address. Campus address are delivered to Department Administrators for distribution and home address are mailed. Email announcements are sent to all Faculty/Staff for delivery schedules and mailing cut-off. 

Parking permit registration begins 2 weeks before the semester starts for Type-6, Type-7, Type 8 and Type-9 employees and are valid based on academic year September-August.

Departments are granted a specific number of daytime allocations annually. The names of eligible employees for daytime parking are determined by each department. Parking privileges are allocated based on the employee's department's instructions. Employees not granted a departmental allocation for daytime parking will be issued an evening permit which enables access to Faculty/Staff lots from 3:00 pm onwards on Monday-Thursday and all day from Friday-Sunday.

Evening Permit Holders who need to park during the day, may park in Deck 1 located at 200 University Avenue for a daily fee of $5.00.

Faculty/Staff permits may be procured :

  • Over-the-counter at the CTPS office with completed Parking Application form approved by employee's Department Administrator. Vehicle registration, driver's license and Rutgers ID must also be presented to process permit purchase.
  • Mail-in permit order with completed Parking Application form approved by employee's Department Administrator, copy of vehicle registration, driver's license and check payment. Call or send an email to CTPS office to advise of permit order and determine permit cost. 
  • Online purchase of Faculty/Staff permit is available to Type 1, 6 and 7 employees which offers an optional six-payment, pre-tax, payroll deduction plan. Employee MUST BE ON ACTIVE PAYROLL in order to process online payroll deduction.

Faculty/Staff  with unpaid citations at the beginning of each permit renewal will be refused to renew Faculty/Staff permit until all citations are satisfied.

Faculty and Staff Fees

  • Type 1 Faculty/Staff, Type 3 Temporary Staff and Type 6 Teaching Asst./Graduate Asst. permit fees are based on salary. Click on Permit Fee Table to determine permit fee; the minimum fee is .001 x the annual salary.
  • Type 8 Co-adjuncts and Type 7 Part-time lecturers (job class codes 99902 and 99905) pay $25 per Academic Year (Sept-August).
  • Type 9 Fellows pay $25 plus tax per Academic Year.

Parking permits are prorated at 50% starting:

  • July 1 for Type 1 and Type 3 employees
  • January 1 for Type 6, Type 7, Type 8 and Type 9 parking permits
  • Type 4 permits are prorated based on when permits are purchased. All Type 4 permits expires on December 31.
    • Type 4 permit purchased from January 1 - May 31 - $60.00. 
    • Type 4 permit purchased from January 1 - August 31 - $80.00
    • Type 4 permit purchased from January 1 - December  31 - $100.00 (minimum cost for a  4 months or less permit)

Please Note:

  • Temporary employees Type  3 & 4,  Co-Adjuncts Type 8 and Fellows Type 9 are not eligible for payroll deductions.
    • Visit Blumenthal 105 to purchase or renew permit.
  • Work-study individuals (Type 5) are not eligible for Faculty/Staff parking permit and are eligible to purchase student parking permits.

Newly Hired Employees should inquire with department administrator or designate regarding availability of allocated spaces. Space permitting, new employees may apply for parking by submitting the completed parking application form. To download the form click on CTPS FORMS  which must be signed by the employing department and submitted to Commuter Transit and Parking Services with all parking registration requirements.

Parking Locations and Parking Access
Faculty/Staff parking lots are gated surface lots which are accessed with your activated Rutgers ID. Click on RU-N Parking Locations for Faculty/Staff parking locations. Faculty/Staff Rutgers ID will be activated upon purchase/renewal of parking permits. Notify the CTPS office if your Rutgers ID was replaced or updated.

Rutgers ID cards are issued by the Business Office at Blumenthal Hall 3rd Floor, Window 5. Employee's termination/resignation from the University must be reported to the Commuter Transit and Parking Services.

New Brunswick/Camden employees who may need to park at the Newark Campus must contact (973) 353-1839 in advance to activate ID access to Newark campus Faculty/Staff parking lots. A valid Rutgers University parking permit is required.
