The University maintains various types of parking facilities to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. These include regular permit lots and decks, gated and card-controlled lots and restricted assigned spaces.
UNIVERSITY DECK I, located at 200 University Avenue is available to all types of student permit holders and authorized visitors. Resident permit holders have reserved spaces in this location. (Open 24 hours)
WASHINGTON DECK II, located at 166 Washington Street (across from the Golden Dome Gymnasium), is available to commuter student permit holders. The facility is Open 24 hours. Assigned resident permit holders have reserved spaces in this location.
WASHINGTON DECK III, located at 180 Washington Street (next to Deck II, where Enterprise Car Rental is located), is available to commuter student permit holders and authorized visitors Monday thru. Saturday 5:30am-12:00am.
EAGLE EAST & WEST, entrance located at Burnett Street and on Orange Street, is available to student prepaid permit holders only. No Pay-As-U-Go permit holders can park at these locations.
ESSEX LOT (506 A), is a Faculty & Staff lot with entrance located at Essex Street. During Fall and Spring Semester Pay as you Go permit holders who opted for the Essex Lot access (additional fee of $125.04), Prepaid Run Pass permit and New Brunswick student permit holders can park at this location M-F 4:00pm onwards and all day weekends.
FACULTY/STAFF LOTS are available to eligible faculty and staff with valid permits only. Each lot requires an annual purchase of a parking permit, hangtag and sticker, in order for the ID to be activated for lot access. Departments are granted a maximum allocation annually based on space availability. Acquisition of a faculty/staff permit does not guarantee the registrant a parking space; parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. University affiliates are not exempt from permit purchase. Fall and Spring Semester attendant schedule for the Bradley Lot is Mon-Thurs 8:00am-9:30pm, Essex Lot Mon-Thurs 4:30pm-9:30pm, and CLJ Lot Mon-Thurs 8:00am-12:00 Midnight/Fri 8:00am-4:30pm.
HANDICAP AREAS are designated with appropriate signage and stalls ground-marked with wheelchair symbols. Designated spaces may be used by University handicap permit holders, or by visitors displaying state handicap vehicle ID/plates, and the appropriate visitor permit.
STREET METERS are regulated by the City of Newark and may vary in rates and time limits.
VISITOR PARKING are determined based on Parking Lot/Garage availabilty. Pre-register Visitors in advance by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The daily rate for visitors is $12.00 (includes 7% sales tax). Contact Department Administrators to inquire for parking validations. Click on VISITORS for more details.
