A: Students must register at Commuter Transit and Parking Services (formerly the Parking Office) by filling out a registration form. All parties must be present.

Q: Am I Guaranteed A Parking Space Once I Purchase A Permit?
A: No. Parking privileges are granted on a first come, first serve basis. To avoid this inconvenience, Commuter Transit and Parking Services strongly recommends the use of public transportation as Rutgers-Newark is conveniently situated between to rail stations and amidst most major bus routes. Full-time students (12 credits or more) receive a 25% reduced rate for all monthly NJ Transit passes.

Q: How Do I Acquire The 25% Discounted Monthly Transit Pass?
A: Students should go online prior to the 10th day of the month preceding the month in which the transit pass is desired and access NJ Transit’s Quik-Tik student discount program via the Rutgers-Newark Commuter Transit and Parking Services website at http://nwkparking.rutgers.edu. To receive the discount online, students must enter through the Rutgers portal and input their username and password. Once you have been verified as a full-time student (12 credits or more), the website will provide more information and guide you through the purchasing process.

Q: Does PATH Offer Any Student Discounts?
A: Yes. PATH offers discounts for bulk travel purchases. Presently, there are two methods to making bulk purchases; the QuickCard and the SmartLink Card. Please visit their website at www.panynj.gov to learn more about these discount and other commuter benefits.

Q: Where can I find additional student parking when the Rutgers facilities are full?
A: Additional Rutgers student parking can be found at 144 Washington Street (adjacent to Alexandra's Restaurant) and at the Military Park Garage (opposite NJPAC). Both facilities will admit Rutgers students with valid permits (hangtag and sticker) at the RU student daily commuter rate of $3.75.
